Year in review 2019
This year was filled with so many adventures, lessons and hard work. Starting from moving to Madrid for 6 months to surprise my mom on her birthday in Aruba, this blog post will take you on a behind-the-scenes of my adventures in 2019
From January till July 2019, I had the opportunity to do my study abroad program in Madrid. Of course, I connected with different vendors in the wedding industry and quickly started working with different brands, like Oui Novias and La Champanera, in Madrid.
In collaboration with Cartu Calderon, from Flamintgo, I got the opportunity to host and photograph a styled shoot at a wine cellar, El Regajal, in Madrid.
The best part of living in Lavapies was the 15 minutes walking distance to Parque del Retiro in Madrid. I loved going to the park to work out, read a book or simply take a nap in the grass. Once, I was taking photos around Monumento a Jacinto Benavente and met Jorge and Maria.
Before moving back to The Netherlands, I had the opportunity to document their love. I’m obsessed with these two and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for these two! And the best part of being in Spain was that I could’ve documented love in Ibiza.
In August 2019, I got the opportunity to travel to Aruba to document a destination wedding. The best part was that I could’ve surprised my mom on her birthday. And celebrated my niece’s birthday for the first time!
Documenting Laura and Ryan’s wedding was a total dream and I had the honour of documenting their love. The next month, the wedding got featured in FOCUS magazine. I also got the opportunity to share my story with you.
In November 2019, I launched a brand new website and also one extra service to my business: branding photography. Branding photography was something that I’ve been doing behind-the-scenes, but I’ve never really marketed it online. So starting in December 2019, I start to put more of my branding photography work out there.
As I look back, I feel so thankful for my journey. When I first started my business, I had no idea what I wanted to do, or honestly, what I needed to do. But, here I am 2,5 years later and I couldn’t be more grateful.
My focus for 2020 is to give myself more permission:
- Permission to dream;
- Permission to show up and share my voice;
- Permission to create;
- Permission make mistake and learn from those mistakes;
- Permission to follow my dreams.
Where is your focus for 2020?
