Summer Engagement Photos

Summer is just around the corner and for many couples that means the perfect opportunity to take their engagement photos.

I mean, let’s be honest, Summer is the best time to have fun outdoors and take some pictures along the way, right?!

In five, ten, or fifteen years, you will look back at these photos and cherish them forever.

But it doesn’t have to be complicated.

Going to the beach, or having a picnic in the park, or just eating ice cream in a fun cafe it’s really all you need.

☀️– Get Ready for Summer and dive into my Best 3 Tips on Planning Your Engagement Session during this Summer!

Are you ready? Surf’s Up! 🌊

1 – Don’t Match, Compliment.

Heck yes, I’m talking about your outfit. Your outfit will for sure impact how you look and how the photograph looks as a whole.

I like the idea of having two different outfits. The first look is a little formal; such as a short or long dress, heels or pretty sandals, and accessories. If it’s cold in the summer (you can expect everything in The Netherlands), you definitely can add a cute jacket over it.

You can never go wrong with layering!

The second outfit is more casual; (ripped) jeans, white or coloured pants, with a nice top with accessories and a jacket.

You fiance ain’t ready for this! 🔥

Summer inspires fun colours and patterns all around, which are great! However, I strongly advise you don’t wear patterns that clash with each other.

Don’t match, compliment!

Really important: make sure to try your outfit before the session, and consider that you will be standing and sitting down in a variety of poses. You definitely want to feel comfortable during your shoot!

2 – Step it up with some props! 👒

Details, details, details – I love me some details! The details make the setting look more beautiful, romantic, and more fun!

Let’s say for example you’re doing a photoshoot at a park, you can bring some blankets and baskets, flowers, cool vintage car or bicycles, pets, guitars, instruments, old books, ice cream, snacks, fruits; there are endless of options!

Be creative and plan your details in advance!

3 – Go for the Golden Light! 🌞

You may have heard that there are certain times of the day that are better for photos and that’s all because of the light. This is what we call The Golden Light.

A morning shoot closely following the rising of the sun is a great way to guarantee richness and warmth of your engagement photos.

I promise you won’t regret waking up earlier that day! 😉

Now, I know that not everyone can be a morning person, and I’m right there with you

However, we can still schedule a shoot one hour before sunset to take the warmth of the golden hour. The light is so rich that it will create some drama in the final photos. (and we all love some drama!)

I always bring two bottles of water for my couples because I know how much fun you’re going to have and how hot it can be in especially in the summertime.

My goal for every shoot is to have fun and make memories along the way. I want you to look back at these photos and relive this day like it was yesterday. These photos will remind you every day how it all started.

So, are you ready to rock your summer engagement photos?
