How To Rock Your Couple Photo Session
Hi friends,
Over the years of shooting couple photo sessions, preparing my clients for a successful photo shoot has been one of my top priorities. Here are some basic tips you could use to rock your couple photo session! 😉
TIP #1: CHOOSE A THEME
I have discovered over the years of photographing couples, that by choosing a theme for their couple photo session would help them choose the best outfit. Also, by choosing a theme, you know exactly what kind of props you could bring to the shoot.
TIP #2: BE ON TIME
I am a natural-light photographer, and I know the stress when clients aren’t on time! It is not about me wanting to leave early, it’s that by arriving late we can lose a lot of light if it gets too late. Light is super important and I hope you take that into consideration when planning your couple photo session.
Oswaldo and Ingrid did an amazing job choosing the right time and location for their shoot. Speaking of location, this leads me to tip #3.
TIP #3: SCOUT YOUR FAVOURITE LOCATION
Once you’ve chosen a theme, the best thing to do is to scout a location. Maybe you’re opting for a picnic theme, you should definitely look out for a park. I encourage you to choose a location that reflects your love and you’ll both feel comfortable. Spend a few minutes thinking about it and checking around. You’ll be surprised with what you can come up with.
Look at these two… such a lovely couple!
CLOTHING TIP FOR HER: SAY YES TO THE DRESS!
For extra movement to the photo, say yes to flowy dresses! Dresses and skirts tend to look stunning on camera! I recommend avoiding pants and shorts for your session, and saying yes to a dress!
CLOTHING TIP FOR HIM: MIX IT UP
Over the years as a wedding photographer. Many of my grooms love to mix a suit coat with a different pant colour. It’s so nice to see how creative they can be. The blazer is considered to be less formal than a suit’s jacket, yet more formal than sports coats. I recommend spending a few minutes choosing the best outfit!
Happy Monday!
