Wedding Photography Timeline (+ FREE GUIDE)
With the diversity of wedding styles, it is not easy to pinpoint a photo timeline for every wedding. Some couples prefer having a first look, others prefer to see each other for the first time when walking down the aisle. This inspired me to write about how I usually photograph a wedding day and give tips on creating your wedding photography timeline.
In the morning of the wedding day, I always start with the groom and his groomsmen. Depending on the groom and the number of details that he has, it can take me around 30 minutes to photograph everything. The bride, on the other hand, usually takes longer… and that’s totally fine! 😉
As soon as I arrive at the bridal prep location, I start photographing the wedding details. I take photos of the invitation, the dress, the rings, shoes and other details related to the wedding. After photographing all the details, I photograph the bride getting into her dress while her mother is helping her and/or her bridesmaids.

Getting ready at your wedding venue definitely has its benefits. Not only you won’t have to worry about travelling back and forth, but waking up in a big and comfy bed will definitely help with having a good start of the day!
On the other hand, if you are getting ready at your house, the best advice I could give is to choose a room based on space and light. When it comes to photography, having a spacious room where you and your bridesmaids can get ready and where there’s a lot of natural light always works a treat.
Here’s a guide where I break down how many hours in advance you should start getting ready, how much time it will take to take your family portraits and how much time it will take to photograph all the wedding details. Download the First Look and Traditional Photography Guide for Brides here!
