It was my first day as a senior. I saw this girl, walking with her crutch, oxygen mask and tank. She was bald, skinny and really pale. My world came down immediately. She was able to walk, she wasn’t scared, she was brave. She appreciated life so much that she didn’t care what others had to say. She was beautiful, she was so, so, beautiful.

I stood there for a minute and I realised how short life is and sometimes we are ungrateful for things that we have. Some days may seem very dark where you just feel like the world is falling apart. But just keep moving forward, even when you are bluffing, even when you don’t quite know what is going to happen next. I think that the power is the principle. The principle of moving forward, as though you have the confidence to move forward, eventually gives you confidence when you look back and see what you’ve done.
