#26 – How to use Instagram Reels for Business
If you’ve been here for a while, you know that every week I show up on Instagram live to talk about online marketing, social media, and personal branding. And if you didn’t know, now you know!
If this is your first time here, let me be the first one to welcome you. My name is Steven de Cuba and I’m a wedding and branding photographer based in the Netherlands. I help busy creatives build a personal brand on social media so that they can turn their passion into a profitable business.
The way my weekly live sessions works is that I first start talking about one specific topic, and in the end, I host a 10-minute Q&A session.
One of the questions that I have received was: “Hey Steven, I saw that there’s a new update on Instagram, Instagram Reels, and lot of people are starting to use it already. Do you think I need to use Instagram Reels too?! I don’t want yet to do ANOTHER THING!! There’s so much to do!!”.
And I think this question was really interesting because as entrepreneurs, we’ve decided that we don’t want to work at a 9-5 job, we want to be our own boss and we’ve decided to work on our own terms…. ← that’s a BIG DEAL right there!
In other words: there’s no such thing as you NEED to do in your business.
As entrepreneurs, you get to do whatever you want to do.
As business owners, we get to do exactly what we want to do, get paid for it, and live a life that we are proud of.
However, often, we see other people, other entrepreneurs having and doing way more than us. And we tend to compare ourselves with these people.
The point that I’m trying to make is that I don’t want you to look at other people doing more than you, and you think that you NEED to do it as well.
My friend, I want you to change that story.
I want you to start telling yourself that you get to do whatever you want to do.
You get to explore a new feature, you get to make mistakes in order to learn the lessons that you need to learn to achieve the things that you ultimately want to achieve.
I want you to start looking at social media as a waterpark that you get to explore.
This waterpark is free for you to use and every ride is different but unique at the same time.
Every time there’s a new ride and/or waterslide, I want you to get freaking excited about it, go and explore it.
And with that in mind, that’s how I want you to look at Social Media and all of their updates.
The problem is that a lot of people attach a feeling or reasoning to their results.
They say things like “You see, I’ve tried to do Reels, but it completely flopped”.
But, not you. You are going to show up from a place that you get to explore this new feature and use it to talk about your business, without having to sell your business.
And if you don’t get the result that you wanted, I want you to try different content, and test test test test test…
You will only know what your audience wants to see when you show up.
