3 Factors You Should Consider When Planning Your Engagement Session
Engagement sessions are absolutely amazing in so many ways. My favourite part? The opportunity for us to work together and build an amazing friendship and feel like we’ve known each other for ages! Having a stress-free afternoon while taking photos with your fiance is the perfect way to start off that new phase in your life together.
As a photographer, I feel confident talking about what you should consider. Here are three factors you need to take into account when planning your engagement photo session.
Time of the Day
When planning your engagement session you definitely have to consider the time of the day. Personally, I like to shoot during the “golden hour”, which is like one hour before sunset. The light is beautiful during that time. The best part? you won’t have to worry about shadows under your eyes or worrying about squinting.
Wardrobe
When choosing your outfit for your engagement photos, I recommend staying away from busy prints, stripes and oversaturated colours. Stick with solid colours with the same tonal palette. Lay everything out on your bed and take a step back. If there’s anything that stands out to your eye from a distance, there’s a chance it will stand out to the camera as well.
Location (adventure, please!)
Now, In my opinion, an engagement session should be ALL ABOUT ADVENTURE. Take a day off and let’s head to somewhere fun. I’ve been to a farm with alpacas, I’ve had a couple booking a room in a hotel for photos, I’ve been to Winterberg in Germany. Really, the options are endless. So, dream big and we will absolutely make it happen.
Whatever you want to do, JUST DO IT. But just make sure you consider the time of the day as well as your attire. You definitely want to have fun and look good in front of the camera. Consider these tips and I promise, you will definitely enjoy your engagement session.
