Getting ready

Imagine this: you, your best friends, mimosas, good music and A LOT OF PICTURES!

Basically, the perfect morning on your wedding day!

There are SO MANY things you can do to have an incredible getting ready time, but there’s definitely some planning you should do…

Here are 6 Tips on Getting Ready on Your Wedding Day

Lay Down the Details the Night Before

One of the most helpful things you can do for your photographer on your wedding day is having all of your details ready to photograph. I’m talking about invitations, bouquet, dress, jewellery, shoes etc. This makes the process of photographing the details quick and easy.

Use a Room with The Most Natural Light

If you’re getting ready at home, the best thing to do is to use the room with the most natural light. Make sure the room looks nice and tidy so it’s ready to go for the morning shoot.

TIP: The kitchen is usually the place where everyone gathers in the morning, so avoid using that room for getting ready.

Consider location

Consider travelling time when choosing your getting ready location. I take around 60-90 minutes to photograph the getting ready session. So, it’s best that the two getting ready locations are as close as possible from each other.

Have all the rings at one place

It’s really easy not having the two rings at one place, I’ve seen it happen a lot. Have the rings with you at your preparation spot and don’t forget your partner’s ring! I’ll be sure to take good care of them and get some amazing shots of how perfect they look.

Take notes at your last fitting

At your last fitting, take note on how long it takes to get fully dressed. Add a bit more time for shoes, jewellery and anything last minute.

The one helping you should get dressed FIRST

Whether it’s your mom, sister or best friend, make sure they get dressed first so when the time comes to take pictures, they’re ready to go. Getting ready 30 minutes before you get dressed, is a safe bet.
