How to Choose the Right Location for Your Couple Photo Session
Let’s start with the good news: there are no rules when planning your couple photo session.
In reality, this session gives you the opportunity to document the first phase as a married couple. I’m always interested in the most exciting things about your relationship because these details help me get to know you better and document your love and relationship.
But, for many couples, planning a couple photo session can be overwhelming. Especially when choosing the best location for your loveshoot. Friends, if you’re planning on taking some photos with your fiancé, you’ve come to the right place! Here are my best 3 tips on choosing the right location for your couple photo session.
1 – Choose That Special Place
If you’re cheesy like me, you’d want to have your photos taken in a place that means something to both of you. One easy example is the place where you first met. These photos will not only reflect your love and excitement, but it will also remind you of that sweet day when you first met your fiance.
Here are some questions you can answer to start getting some ideas:
- Where did you two meet?
- Where was your first date?
- What do you like to do during the weekend?
- Where did you kiss for the first time?
- Where did you go first on vacation?
2 – Travel somewhere FUN!
If you’re the type of adventurous couple, you’d definitely like to plan your photo session somewhere exciting and fun! It doesn’t have to be somewhere far. Think about places where you can easily get to by car, but still requires some effort to get there. This way, you know you’ve found a unique location for your shoot!
Here are some examples:
Jonathan proposed to Alpha at the Château Neercanne in Maastricht.
Stas proposed to Yllena in the beautiful canals of Amsterdam
Ryan proposed to Laura in the garden of the “Landgoed Staverden”.
3 – Get out of your comfort zone!
No – but, really, got you of your comfort zone! If you’re anything like me, you LOVE adventures!
Do you like hiking? Let’s take some photos on a mountain!
Do you like indoors? Let’s take some photos in your PJ’s in your living room!
Do you like alpacas? Let’s take photos on a farm, with ALPACAS!
Angie and Albert celebrated their fifth year anniversary and opted to do a couple’s photo session on a farm with alpacas.
Now, THAT is what I call an adventure!
I’ve said before and I will say it again: there are no rules when planning your engagement session – you make your own rules.
