Can you think of anything worse than investing in a high-quality wedding album, only to hate how you look in every single photo? Not gonna happen!

In a perfect world, you’d show up to your photo session knowing exactly what to do and feel completely confident in front of the camera. However, hiring a professional photographer to follow you the whole day, is for most couples something completely unfamiliar. The good news is that there are some things that you can do before-hand in order to completely rock your wedding photos.

Here are my best four tips on looking your best in front of the camera on your wedding day.

trust your photographer

More than anything, having a professional wedding photographer that you like, know and trust is the most important thing when planning your wedding day. I cannot stress this enough, you have no idea how many times my couples compliment me because they feel like they know me before we even met personally, and that level of trust made them feel completely confident in front of the camera.

When hiring a professional wedding photographer, make sure to stalk your photographer. Not Joe Goldberg’s level of stalker, but at least get to know them online by following them on social media, visiting their website or even subscribe to their newsletter, before you inquire.

Plan an Engagement Session

The advantages of having an engagement session goes beyond the sentimental value of documenting this unique phase of your life. Often, most couples pose in front of a professional camera for the first time on their wedding day. Avoid this unknown situation by scheduling an engagement session. Not only you will get to know your photographer’s style, but you will also get an idea of what kind of makeup, or hairdo, would work best on your wedding day.

Relax and Repeat

There’s no denying that planning a wedding includes a lot of stress. However, your wedding is the one day where you should be completely relaxed and enjoying every single moment. Treat yourself to some spa a few days before the wedding to help you relax. Get good night sleep, eat on time and stay hydrated, so you’ll look and feel rested on your day.

Ignore the camera

The key to looking stunning on your wedding photos is to look composed without appearing overly posed.  Think about some of your favourite photographs of yourself where you look happy and poised but your attention isn’t on the camera. When taking photos, ignore your photographer and focus on your partner instead. Whisper something in each other’s ears, remind each other how far you’ve come since your first date and how excited you are to spend the rest of your lives together.

I get it, some people just aren’t comfortable in front of the camera and for many this is the first time posing infront of a professional camera. More than anyhting, trust your photographer, plan in advance and have some fun!
